Through the work of Junior Achievement of Florida Foundation, Florida’s local JA areas will receive $2,197,732 in state funds to support the operations and expansion of 3DE by Junior Achievement to several school districts throughout the state with the recent approval of the final state budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year from Florida Gov. Ron Desantis.

“These funds will allow 3DE by Junior Achievement to continue transforming the educational landscape of public high schools through the lens of self-direction, business methodology, and workforce development,” Junior Achievement of Florida Foundation Acting Agent said. “This is going to positively impact the lives of students, educators, parents and strengthen the local community. We are very thankful for the state’s support of 3DE through Gov. Desantis’s approval of the budget.”

The “Workforce Development in High School Classrooms by Junior Achievement” appropriations bill was sponsored by Florida Polk County Representative Jennifer Canady from District 50, and Florida Pinellas County Senator Nick DiCeglie from District 18.

These funds will help balance the cost of operating existing 3DE schools and assist the launch and expansion of 3DE schools statewide. Junior Achievement’s Florida Foundation will distribute the funds to local Florida JA area offices with 3DE: Tampa Bay, Central Florida, Palm Beaches, and South Florida/Broward.

This one-time capital infusion affirms the value that our outcome-based JA/3DE model brings to the lives of young people in Florida’s public schools. 3DE currently serves 3,300 students in 12 schools in Florida across 7 school districts, with more than 100 specially trained 3DE teachers employed by school districts, and case partners representing more than 50 businesses.
